Scott McKinley has been with Sportworks for over two decades. He is an avid bike commuter, commuting year-round from his home in Seattle to the factory in Woodinville, Wa. His commute is 28 to 30 miles round trip, depending on the route he takes. Scott's favorite ride? The Markleeville Death Ride (now renamed, “Tour Of The California Alps”). A wheelsucker’s nightmare with 5 mountain passes, extreme heat and over 15K ft of climbing. Most of the ride is closed to cars, so descents are screamers.
Scott once rode his bike from Alice Springs to Ayers Rock in Australia (270 miles) in a day and a half. "There were flies everywhere and only three places to stop along the way. I carried 8 liters of water to make it through. My knee imploded after the ride, but hey, it is about the experience."
Scott is the VP of Materials Control at Sportworks and is responsible for making sure the factory has all of the raw materials and parts we need for daily operation. In his spare time, Scott is attending Cascade Bicycle Club's Advocacy Leadership Institute and is an avid telemark and backcountry skier.
